The Grand National Saddle Horse Championships will be held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre in April, 2017. This event which was first held in 1992 at "Horseworld" Maraylya is now in its 25th Silver Anniversary year.
From Humble Beginning this event has grown to be the most prestigious equine event in the Southern Hemisphere.
During this time there has been incredible growth to the sport of Showing; starting with a programme of 7 Classes for just over 100 Horse and rider combinations, to our 2016 event where we hosted four days of competition with 32 classes & over 500 individual entries. Changes over time have seen our program include the introduction of Show Hunter classes, splitting of horse heights and rider class age groups. Children’s day was introduced with Child classes, Leading Rein and First Ridden ponies offering a greater focus and more opportunities for children to participate at this level of the sport.
The pinnacle of the event has become the Grand Champion ride off, where the overall winner from each section wins a prize far greater than previously on offer. At the completion of all the Grand Champion classes, a lucky draw will be conducted with all those winners eligible to win a Honda Jazz supplied by Suttons Honda, Homebush.
