Granite path upgrade

March 2017

As many readers will be aware, the Sydney International Equestrian Centre was purpose built for the 2000 Olympics. Over the last 17 years since, the granite paths that surround the venue have worn and eroded. The process of refurbishing them was part of a minor capital works project and is soon to be completed.

The granite paths throughout the venue are constructed with a 75mm thick layer of decomposed granite which is stabilised with the addition of 8% hydrated lime. This combination gives the granite horse paths a surface that is non slip and cushioning to the horses hooves when walking along the paths to and from the competition arenas.

With the project due for completion in early April 2017, we are sure there are going to be alot more happy riders and horses around the venue.
